Unity of Sand

This ritual has been recognized to symbolize the unity of two souls to become one. Newlyweds are given two glasses with sand where they will pour it into a third vessel. These will theirs to keep for eternity. Their flowing in unison represents the coming together of their lives / their flowing in unison is the symbol of two lives streaming into one.

Legal registration

Our services

• An arrangement for a government official to come to your wedding at the hotel
• Processing of the following documents at the local district office ( Amphur )

We require the following documents at least 3 working days prior to the wedding date:

• Two copies of both the bride’s and groom’s passports.
• The original certificated letter (Statutory declaration for Aus/NZ or Affirmation of Freedom to Marry for UK) from your embassy in Bangkok.
• Two copies of the certificated letter having been translated in Thai by an officially authorized Thai translator with a rubber stamp affixing from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affair for processing and endorsements.

The whole process

1. Go to your embassy in Bangkok by yourself to get a certificated letter (Affirmation of freedom to marry (UK) / Statutory declaration (AUS, NZ)) *All Embassies are located in Bangkok. (The consular section is open between 8:00-11:00 and 13:00- 15:30 Monday-Thursday and 8:00-12:00 on Friday. It is not possible to make an appointment for this service)

2. Have your certificated letter translated into Thai by an authorized translator.

   *Please note that Consular Section does not undertake the preparation or translation of documents. There are a number of companies within a short walk of the Embassy.

3. Get a rubber stamp on the translated certificated letter from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the following address:

   The Legalization Division
   Department of Consular Affairs
   Ministry of Foreign Affairs
   123 Chaeng Wattana Road,
   Laksi District, Bangkok 10210

4. Bring those documents to the hotel, and we will then process the legal arrangements. *We will bring your documents to the local district office (Amphur) where your paperwork will be endorsed, verified and submitted to the Registrar. We require all documents at least 2 or 3 working days before the wedding date.
5. An officer from the local district office will come to the hotel on your wedding day for the registering process. They will present you with your marriage certificate. Once you have signed the certificate, you are officially authorized under Thai law as husband and wife.
6. Get the marriage certificate translated into English by an authorized translator.
7. Get a rubber stamp from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the translated marriage certificate at the following location:

   Department of Consular Affairs
   Ministry of Foreign Affairs
   123 Chaeng Wattana Road,
   Laksi District, Bangkok 10210

If this whole process is not complete, you will not be able to lawfully use the Thai marriage certificate in your country.

Thai Water Ceremony – This ceremony is the most important part of the Thai wedding ceremony, as it represents the couple officially becoming husband and wife. The focal point of the ceremony is for the guests to give their individual blessings or words of good luck to the newly-weds. Throughout the ceremony, the bride and groom kneel together, and a holy string is draped from one head to the other connecting the couple, this symbolizing their spiritual union. This ceremony is conducted after the ring exchange ceremony.

Long-drum parade – Traditionally the start of the wedding ceremony is announced by long-drum procession where the groom is escorted to the wedding venue accompanied by Thai dancers dressed in traditional Thai costumes to celebrate wonderful events of a wedding ceremony.
